Mix milk with sugar, raisins and hazelnuts and pour over the pieces of bread. Allow the bread to soften, then add the peeled and cored apples, cut into small pieces. Pour into a mold previously buttered and sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Blend all the ingredients for the filling and pour them over the base. Bake in a preheated oven at 180° C for 20-25 minutes. Serve with a smile!

Barbara’s Tipp:

The Scheiterhaufen will be even more beautiful if presented topped with delicious meringue. Beat two egg whites with a little sugar until stiff, then with a pastry bag decorate the baked Scheiterhaufen, and bake again at 220°C until the meringue turns a nice slightly golden colour (about 5 minutes should do). It is even more delicious if accompanied by applesauce or whipped cream! Enjoy!
